NP/PA- Emergency Medicine
About The Position
We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) for locum tenens coverage in Emergency Medicine at a facility in Mount Vernon, Ohio. The coverage period is from September 2, 2026, and ongoing. This role involves working 12-hour shifts, with specific weekday and weekend timings. The Emergency Department has 17 beds and sees approximately 70 patients per day, handling a variety of emergency medicine cases. The NP/PA will provide independent evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment, collaborate with physicians, order and interpret tests, prescribe medications, develop treatment plans, and document patient encounters in the EMR system.
Requirements
- Board certification required
- Active Ohio NP license (or ability to obtain)
- Active DEA required
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP required
- TB and Flu clearance per credentialing standards
Nice To Haves
- Emergency Medicine or Urgent Care experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide independent evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of emergency department patients within NP/PA scope.
- Collaborate with physicians to manage patient care in a 17-bed ED with 25,000-26,000 annual visits.
- Perform 12-hour shifts covering morning, evening, and night hours as scheduled.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and develop treatment plans.
- Document patient encounters in EMR system and ensure compliance with hospital policies.
