About The Position

This is a NON-PAID philanthropic board member position for an executive who wants to give back and has experience in financial accounting. Nonprofit board members give of their time, talent, and treasure. This is a 'working board,' meaning board members are involved in operations, donating an average of 5 hours per week. There is a donation requirement for board members as funders require the board to be donors before providing grants. The ideal candidate has likely experienced the cancer journey with a friend or loved one.

Requirements

• Experience in financial accounting
• Local to the Los Angeles metro area (Monrovia, San Gabriel Valley)
• 5-10 years of job experience (not board experience) in QuickBooks Bookkeeping, Budgeting, Projections, Finance, Reporting, 990 preparations, and Board Financial Reports.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the financial officer of the organization
• Help develop a finance committee and serve as Chair of the finance committee
• Manage, with the finance committee, the board’s review of and action related to organization finances
• Work with the chief executive to ensure that appropriate financial reports are made available to the board on a timely basis
• Assist the chief executive in preparing the annual budget and presenting the budget to the board for approval
• Work with CEO to develop project budgets for grant applications
• Ensure development and board review of financial policies and procedures
