About The Position

Ryder is hiring an on-call, part-time, non-CDL truck driver in St. Joseph, Minnesota. This local position offers weekly hourly pay of $24.15, paid training, and a Monday–Friday schedule starting at 7:00 AM, with 30–40 hours per week. Drivers deliver solo within a 150-mile radius and return home daily. The work involves touch freight consisting of cable equipment and white-glove service. The vehicle is a 26-foot straight truck. Ryder provides training on required equipment, including an electric or manual pallet jack, hand truck, and lift gate.

Drivers operate well-maintained, safe trucks that are 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Ryder provides a uniform allowance. Drivers are empowered to make safety decisions, and the description states that their jobs are protected. The role is part of Ryder’s logistics team, which includes military reservists and veterans.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Have a valid driver’s license.
• Have verifiable driving experience meeting one of these alternatives: 6 months within the past 3 years; 2 years within the last 5 years; or 5 years within the last 10 years. Experience must be in like equipment when the position involves operating a straight truck or box truck.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a vehicle and comply with safety regulations, continuous training, and customer-service expectations.
• Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records.
• Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading when required by the customer.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
