About The Position

Ryder is hiring an on-call, part-time, non-CDL truck driver in St. Joseph, Minnesota. The driver delivers freight solo on local routes within a 150-mile radius and returns home daily. The position involves transporting cable equipment as white-glove freight in a 26-foot straight truck. Drivers use an electric or manual pallet jack, hand truck, and lift gate; Ryder provides training on the equipment. The schedule is Monday through Friday, starting at 7:00 AM, with 30–40 hours per week and paid training. Pay is $24.15 per hour, paid weekly.

Drivers operate well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Have a valid driver’s license.
• Have verifiable driving experience meeting one of these criteria: six months in the past three years, two years within the last five years, or five years within the last ten years. Experience must be in like equipment when the position involves operating a straight truck or box truck.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a vehicle while complying with safety regulations and participating in continuous training and customer service.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records.
• Load or unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
