Nighttime Team Member (Shifts after 4pm)
About The Position
Potbelly is hiring friendly, outgoing Team Members to provide fast, friendly, and efficient service and deliver consistent, quality products in a clean, inviting environment. Team Members work evening and night shifts starting after 4 p.m., serving customers and helping close the shop while maintaining a positive atmosphere. The role includes working across several service and food-preparation stations, preparing products, handling transactions and orders, cleaning, and addressing customer concerns. Applicants must be at least 16 years old. Illinois employees must become food safety certified within 30 days of employment.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Friendly, customer-first mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a bustling kitchen environment.
- Able to manage potential allergens, including peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, and shellfish.
- Team player.
- Able to stand or walk for a minimum of 3 hours or as needed.
- Able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Illinois employees must become food safety certified within 30 days of employment.
Nice To Haves
- Knife skills are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Work at multiple stations, including load, dress, shakes, cash, prep, and front, as directed by a Shift Leader or Manager.
- Follow health and safety standards for food, cleanliness, and safety.
- Restock the food line, chips, and cooler.
- Efficiently prepare quality finished products, including sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, and ice cream.
- Use the automatic slicer to prepare food items if 18 or older.
- Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen areas, and utensils, and take out trash.
- Operate the cash register and follow cash-handling procedures, including handling and balancing cash.
- Effectively handle customer complaints and issues.
- Take delivery, catering, and pickup orders over the phone.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
