About The Position

Potbelly Sandwich Shop is hiring Team Members for evening and night shifts starting after 4 p.m. Associates provide fast, friendly, and efficient customer service and deliver consistent, quality products in a clean and inviting environment. Team Members help serve customers and close the shop while keeping the atmosphere energetic and welcoming. The posted pay is $17.25–$17.75 plus digital tips; Potbelly does not guarantee tip earnings. Applications must be submitted by 12/4/2026, though the posting may close earlier if a suitable candidate is selected.

Requirements

• Be at least 16 years of age.
• Have a friendly, customer-first mindset and be able to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment.
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Be comfortable working in a bustling kitchen environment.
• Be able to manage potential allergens, including peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, and shellfish.
• Be a team player.
• Be able to stand or walk for a minimum of 3 hours or as needed.
• Be able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Illinois employees must become food safety certified within 30 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Knife skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work multiple stations (load, dress, shakes, cash, prep, and front) as directed by a Shift Leader or Manager.
• Comply with health and safety standards for food, cleanliness, and safety.
• Restock the food line, chips, and cooler.
• Efficiently prepare quality finished products, including sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, and ice cream.
• Use the automatic slicer to prepare food items if 18 or older.
• Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen areas, and utensils; take out trash.
• Operate the cash register and follow cash-handling procedures, including handling and balancing cash.
• Effectively handle customer complaints and issues.
• Take delivery, catering, and pickup orders over the phone.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
