About The Position

Potbelly is hiring friendly, outgoing Team Members to provide customers with fast, friendly, efficient service and consistent, quality products in a clean and inviting environment. Team Members work evening and night shifts beginning after 4 p.m., help close the shop, serve customers, and keep the atmosphere energetic through the end of the day. The role involves working at multiple stations, preparing food, assisting customers, maintaining cleanliness and safety, and handling orders and payments. Applicants must be at least 16 years old. Illinois employees must become food safety certified within 30 days of employment.

Requirements

At least 16 years of age.
Friendly, customer-first mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Comfort working in a bustling kitchen environment.
Ability to manage potential allergens, including peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, and shellfish.
Team-player attitude.
Ability to stand or walk for a minimum of 3 hours or as needed.
Ability to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Illinois employees must become food safety certified within 30 days of employment.

Knife skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

Work multiple stations—including load, dress, shakes, cash, prep, and front—as directed by a Shift Leader or Manager.
Comply with food, cleanliness, and safety health standards.
Restock the food line, chips, and cooler.
Efficiently prepare quality sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, ice cream, and other finished products.
Use the automatic slicer to prep food items if 18 or older.
Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen areas, and utensils, and take out trash.
Operate the cash register and follow cash handling procedures, including handling and balancing cash.
Effectively handle customer complaints and issues.
Take delivery, catering, and pickup orders over the phone.
Perform other duties as assigned.
