About The Position

The Minnesota Star Tribune is seeking dynamic leaders passionate about journalism and democracy for a 10-week summer reporting internship at its headquarters in Minneapolis, MN. This internship is designed for talented, driven college juniors, seniors, and graduate students who can cover breaking news and write enterprise stories. The program aims to provide interns with invaluable experience from a major-market newsroom, developing their skills and leaving them with polish. Interns will be paid $850 a week and may have the opportunity to apply for apprenticeships upon completion.

Requirements

Talented, driven college juniors, seniors and graduate students
Excellent communication and writing skills
Flexibility
Ability to handle deadline pressure
Proficient with web research tools
Proficient with social media tools
Proficient with InCopy or similar publishing software
Have a valid driver’s license
Currently legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status

Responsibilities

Develop their own story ideas
Work hard at assigned tasks
Work closely with editors, photographers and other reporters to provide substantive news stories
Work regularly from the Star Tribune office
