About The Position
The Minnesota Star Tribune is seeking dynamic leaders passionate about journalism and democracy for a 10-week summer reporting internship at their Minneapolis, MN headquarters. This internship is designed for talented, driven college juniors, seniors, and graduate students who can cover breaking news and write enterprise stories. The program aims to provide interns with invaluable experience in a major-market newsroom, developing their skills and polish. Requirements
- Currently legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status
- College juniors, seniors and graduate students
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Flexibility
- Ability to handle deadline pressure
- Proficient with web research tools
- Proficient with social media tools
- Proficient with InCopy or similar publishing software
Nice To Haves
- Skills working with data, including analysis and building digital visualizations
Responsibilities
- Develop their own story ideas
- Run hard at the assignments given
- Work closely with editors, photographers and other reporters to provide substantive news stories
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Be highly proficient writers
- Work regularly from the Star Tribune office
