About The Position

KGNS+ is seeking a dynamic journalist to join its newsroom and Spanish-language anchor team. The role anchors broadcast and digital news, co-produces Spanish newscasts, and oversees and assists the producer with the content of newscasts. In addition to anchoring evening news, the position delivers news content for digital, streaming, and social media platforms. The station is looking for a creative, experienced storyteller who can find and share high-quality reports.

Requirements

College degree in journalism or a related field.
Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured.
Initiative and attention to detail.
Ability to write clearly and accurately with strong grammar.
Ability to work effectively under intense pressure and tight deadlines.
Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere and work well with coworkers, supervisors, and viewers.
Ability to keep up with national and local news and weather.
Ability to enterprise local hard-news stories.
Computer knowledge, including newsroom software, Microsoft applications, and Internet use.
Ability to carry camera equipment weighing approximately 15–20 pounds.

Responsibilities

Anchor the station’s market-leading Monday–Friday evening newscasts.
Exercise strong news judgment, research complicated stories, and determine the content and quality of newscasts.
Act as a co-producer during late newscasts.
Read and copy edit news scripts before each show.
Post compelling content to social media and the station’s digital platforms.
Participate in the community by emceeing events and making public appearances as requested.
Report or field-anchor during major breaking news.
Report and produce regular franchise stories.
Produce newscasts by stacking shows, writing scripts, editing copy, ordering story-appropriate graphics, making maps, and coordinating live shots with directors, production staff, reporters, and photographers.
Edit video and audio.
