About The Position

WDTN-TV/WBDT-TV, the NBC and CW affiliates in Dayton, Ohio, is seeking a dynamic, engaging leader to join the 2 News anchor team. The role calls for a high-energy, positive on-air personality and a seasoned journalist who can pitch and produce high-impact, people-driven stories for all day parts and platforms. The anchor will work alongside the management team to mentor and coach colleagues and engage with viewers at community events throughout the year. Dayton is described as an affordable Midwestern city known as the birthplace of aviation, with restaurants, festivals, museums, sports, and entertainment. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or a related field.
Minimum five years of news anchoring experience preferred.
Ability to interact well with colleagues.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to ad-lib when required.
Present news without bias or prejudice.
Exceptional on-air presence.
Excellent news judgment and expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, and newsmakers.
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and multitask while delivering work that demonstrates a high level of experience.
Coaching and leadership skills.
Ability to listen effectively, understand problems, and communicate with a team to shape solutions.
Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Flexibility to work any shift.

Responsibilities

Present news stories and other content across platforms.
Ensure news content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
Write and deliver news stories clearly and concisely.
Assist with writing, copy editing, researching, and coordinating news programming and other content.
Conduct interviews with news personnel and external entities.
Respond to breaking news and other urgent newsroom situations as required.
Write content for the website and other platforms.
Post engaging content and interact with viewers and users on social media.
Participate in promotional activities, including public appearances.
Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
Work alongside the management team to mentor and coach colleagues.
Engage with viewers at community events throughout the year.
