About The Position

iHeartMedia is seeking a News Reporter to anchor newscasts for multiple markets and contribute to a fast-paced newsroom. The role includes writing and editing news copy, producing content for the 24/7 Newswire, publishing news and video on newsroom social media platforms, and gathering audio from press conferences, live events, and partner TV stations. The employee may also produce short-form reports for the next shift and anchor breaking news reports as needed. The position is based in Phoenix, Arizona, and is part-time and hourly. The company accepts applications on an ongoing basis.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in on-air journalism in a smaller market or college station.
• Strong on-air presence and ability to present newscasts with authority.
• Excellent writing, editing, and grammar skills.
• Strong social media skills, including email and writing or posting for Facebook, X (Twitter), and Instagram.
• Strong time-management skills, including setting priorities and managing deadlines.
• Knowledge of and familiarity with local, regional, and national trends.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Proficiency in media production, primarily audio, and broadcast systems.
• Willingness to work nights, holidays, and weekends.

Nice To Haves

• A four-year college degree is preferred; a degree in Communications or Journalism is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Anchor newscasts for multiple markets.
• Write clear, concise news copy.
• Produce, edit, and write content for the 24/7 Newswire.
• Post news and video content to newsroom social media platforms.
• Gather audio from press conferences, live events, and partner TV stations.
• Produce short-form reports (voicers/wraps) for anchors on the following shift.
• Anchor breaking news reports as needed.
• Perform general newsroom responsibilities and other duties as assigned.
