About The Position

Boston Medical Center’s New Graduate Nurse Residency Program supports newly licensed nurses as they transition to practice. The comprehensive program incorporates the Nurse of the Future Nursing Core Competencies and is designed to strengthen clinical decision-making, critical thinking, patient outcomes, and nurse satisfaction. New graduate nurses are hired in cohorts and complete four months of training before assuming a position on a Step Down unit. This role is for nurses who graduated from nursing school within the 12 months before their hire date. The registered nurse provides and coordinates care for patients and families across the health care continuum, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation. The nurse is accountable for clinical, educational, quality, and fiscal patient-care outcomes, using the nursing department’s model of care and following established policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines, and standards of practice. The position reports to the Unit Nurse Director. The posting identifies a 36-hour night schedule and a March 2027 residency start. Nurses are expected to meet the program’s role-commitment requirements. Applicants must submit an online application with a resume and letter of intent combined into one PDF. Candidates should apply only to the Step Down New Grad program; applicants who also apply to experienced-nurse RN openings will not be considered.
