About The Position

Health First is seeking a skilled and motivated Physician Assistant (PA) with a passion for Neurosurgery to join a growing, high-performing team. This is a dynamic opportunity to work side-by-side with an elite Neurosurgeon, supporting cases across all ages and playing an integral role both in the OR and in patient care continuity. The role involves assisting in a wide range of Neurosurgical procedures, managing elective and emergent cases, serving as a clinical resource for fellow providers, and participating in hospital call for Neuro Surgery. The position also contributes to clinic operations within a collaborative team environment that includes multiple physicians and experienced APPs. This role offers potential surgical volume for hands-on experience and skill development, and the opportunity to work directly alongside nationally recognized Neuro surgeons known for exceptional patient outcomes and satisfaction. You will gain exposure across a broad spectrum of neurosurgical procedures, developing comprehensive experience in cranial, spinal, vascular, functional, and trauma surgery. This is a full-time position.

Requirements

  • Physician Assistant with surgical experience required
  • Strong interest or background in Neuro Surgery preferred
  • Ability to thrive in both surgical and clinical settings
  • Team-oriented mindset with excellent communication skills
  • Active DEA (or willingness to obtain)
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program; Masters of Science preferred
  • Current PA license
  • Certification by the NCCPA
  • One year of related clinical experience preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of physical assessment, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology
  • Must be able to pass colorblind testing to perform POC test requiring color change
  • Must hold current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider completion card prior to start date and maintain
  • Must be able to speak and understand the English language
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision in various outpatient settings; is motivated, self- directed and demonstrates initiative
  • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills
  • Maintains membership in an applicable national professional organization
  • Participates and promotes public relations events
  • Ability to work in stressful, public contact environment with patients and families of various ages, cultures and socio-economic statuses
  • Must be extremely flexible and able to work at variable hours and locations
  • Must be able to recognize own limits and consult a physician regarding patient care issues
  • Must be courteous and helpful, treating all people with dignity and respect
  • Must be able to concentrate on multiple priority activities
  • Must be able to respond efficiently to emergency situations

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Assist in a wide range of Neurosurgical procedures
  • Managing a range of elective and emergent cases
  • Serve as a clinical resource and point of access for fellow providers within the practice
  • Participate in hospital call for Neuro Surgery
  • Contribute to clinic operations
  • Provides acute, episodic outpatient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, consultation and education as a certified Physician Assistant, trained in a clinical specialty
  • Manages patient care and health maintenance needs of a dedicated patient population
  • Development of a plan of care consistent with established clinical protocols
  • Establishment of appropriate follow-up plan as necessary
  • Demonstrates competent skills in therapeutic cost-effective pharmacologic administration and management
  • Collaborates with medical director(s) in development of clinical protocols/procedures for delivery of outpatient care
  • Participates in departmental CQI efforts and provides support for improvement of identified issues
  • Develops and implements formal and informal teaching plans for patients, families, staff and community
  • Promotes patient/family-informed decision making in treatment plans and options
  • Facilitates development, implementation and review of standards or practice, policies and procedures, quality outcome indicators, and other designated work projects to enhance patient care
  • Completes charting and billable assignments in a timely manner
  • Oversees clinical involvement of support associates and volunteers during daily clinic operations
  • Participates in clinical experience of students
