Neighborhoods Manager

City of New York•New York City, NY

About The Position

The Campaign Finance Board seeks a manager to lead its Neighborhoods Team, a sub-team within the Education team in the Public Affairs Division. The team builds trusted relationships with community-based partners and delivers in-language voter education to communities with historically low voter turnout, focusing on South Brooklyn, Northcentral Queens, the South Bronx, and East New York. Its work includes coordinating with community-based organizations, faith-based institutions, libraries, local groups, and other partners to share election information and provide educational workshops on topics such as why and how to vote, voting rights, campaign finance, and the CFB’s Matching Funds Program. The Manager leads, coaches, and supports neighborhood-based Coordinators and Specialists delivering partnership-building and education across 13 languages. The position provides individualized supervision and professional development, helps staff navigate challenges, advocates for team resources, and cultivates a supportive, accountable, and empowering team environment. The Manager oversees engagement strategies for priority geographies and works with the Deputy Director to refine strategy, manage the budget, measure impact, and coordinate internal collaborations. The role also manages high-profile relationships with coalitions, civic leaders, and institutions serving diverse immigrant populations, and sets the direction for curriculum, training, and development to ensure content is accurate, accessible, and relevant to people who speak a language other than English. The successful candidate will bring strong leadership, organizational, communication, and collaboration skills; sound judgment in ambiguous situations; and the ability to manage experienced staff with varied strengths and needs. The work calls for empathy, adaptability, self-awareness, accountability, and the ability to balance care and flexibility with clear expectations. The agency seeks someone passionate about making voting, contributing to candidate campaigns, and running for office inclusive for people most marginalized in society, and who is aware of or interested in deepening their understanding of how oppression manifests in government systems. The Campaign Finance Board is a nonpartisan, independent city agency whose mission is to make local democracy more open, transparent, and equitable. Its Public Affairs Division engages New Yorkers and informs and encourages their participation in elections through community engagement, language access, marketing and digital communications, and public relations. The agency’s work includes the citywide Voter Guide, the official citywide Debates Program, NYC Votes, and the public matching funds program.
