About The Position

CrossCountry Freight Solutions (CCFS) is seeking a high-performing National Account Manager to drive strategic growth by managing key national accounts, achieving ambitious sales and gross margin goals, and identifying new business opportunities. This role is crucial for meeting acquisition and revenue targets while maintaining a competitive edge and fostering innovation. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in sales or relevant industry experience.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication (written and verbal), analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • High level of cognitive and emotional intelligence.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to gain a strong understanding and working knowledge of CCFS markets, contracts, pricing publications, and competitors.
  • Ability to gain a strong understanding and working knowledge of CCFS infrastructure and operating characteristics.
  • Ability to gain a strong understanding and working knowledge of CCFS information and reporting systems.
  • Ability to gain a strong understanding and working knowledge of Interline partner systems, capabilities, and procedures.
  • Ability to gain a strong understanding and working knowledge of the transportation industry behavior, including CCFS pricing mechanisms and costing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Drive strategic growth by managing key national accounts.
  • Achieve ambitious sales and gross margin goals.
  • Identify new business opportunities.
  • Meet acquisition and revenue targets.
  • Maintain competitive edge and foster innovation.
  • Conduct cold call outreach and customer prospecting/follow-up daily via phone, email, and messaging services.
  • Prepare reports of business transactions, rate requests, and sales leads.
  • Deliver presentations that emphasize features and related benefits, involving research and detailed work.
  • Travel up to 12 days a month throughout assigned territories in Canada and the Western United States.
  • Call on high volume, high revenue accounts ($250,000+ in gross revenues annually) to maintain and increase business.
  • Inform clients of new services and company changes.
  • Negotiate major contracts, involving detailed work and research.
  • Prepare tender packages including rate proposals, company information, equipment, and financials.
  • Stay updated on customer and competitor changes.
  • Suggest shipping improvements to companies, such as packaging enhancements to reduce claims.
  • Recommend innovative solutions and changes to reduce costs, save time, improve revenues, and increase efficiency.
  • Manage approximately $10-15 million in gross revenue per year (100-150 accounts).
  • Respond to all customer concerns, complaints, and requests.
  • Gather necessary customer information regarding density, packaging, volumes, etc.
  • Maintain and increase business by staying informed about customer and competitor changes, and informing clients of new services and company changes.
