About The Position

Durvet, Inc. is a member-owned animal health distribution company with more than 50 years of growth, stability, and service to customers across the United States. As a member-owned cooperative, Durvet partners with independent distributor members to deliver industry-leading animal health products and exceptional customer support. We are seeking an experienced, relationship-driven National Account Manager to manage strategic customer relationships and drive profitable sales growth across assigned national retail, fleet, distributor, and multi-location accounts. This position serves as the primary business partner for key national customers, working closely with distributor members, vendor partners, and internal teams to expand product distribution, strengthen long-term partnerships, and deliver exceptional customer support. Success in this role comes from building trusted relationships, developing strategic account plans, identifying growth opportunities, negotiating mutually beneficial business initiatives, and helping customers achieve long-term success through the Durvet product portfolio. The National Account Manager works closely with customers, distributor members, vendor partners, and internal departments to execute sales strategies and support customer success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent combinations of education, industry knowledge, and relevant sales experience will also be considered.
  • 5–7 years of successful national account management, strategic sales, business development, distributor management, or comparable customer-facing sales experience.
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience managing strategic customer relationships and developing long-term business partnerships.
  • Experience creating annual business plans, sales forecasts, and customer growth strategies.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while managing multiple national accounts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM software.
  • Ability to conduct virtual meetings using Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel extensively.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within animal health, agriculture, livestock, farm & ranch, feed, companion animal, or consumer products industries.
  • Experience working with national retailers, buying groups, fleet accounts, distributors, or multi-location customers.
  • Experience negotiating annual business plans, promotional agreements, and merchandising programs.
  • Knowledge of category management, retail merchandising, promotional planning, and sales analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with assigned national retail, fleet, distributor, and strategic customer accounts.
  • Grow existing national accounts by identifying opportunities to increase sales, product placement, and market share.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans that support customer objectives while achieving Durvet sales and profitability goals.
  • Negotiate annual business plans, promotional agreements, merchandising initiatives, and marketing programs with assigned accounts.
  • Conduct in-person and virtual customer meetings, executive business reviews, product presentations, and educational sessions.
  • Collaborate with distributor members, vendor representatives, and internal departments to execute customer-specific sales strategies and promotional initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with marketing, purchasing, operations, customer service, and other internal teams to ensure successful execution of customer initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted business partner by providing product knowledge, market insights, and customized business solutions.
  • Analyze account performance, identify growth opportunities, and communicate market trends, customer feedback, and competitive activity to management.
  • Maintain accurate customer information, account plans, forecasts, opportunities, and activity using the company's CRM system.
  • Represent Durvet at customer meetings, trade shows, educational programs, and industry events.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service before, during, and after every sale.
