About The Position

The Nail Technician is an integral member of the team and works to improve each guest’s experience by providing exceptional service from arrival through the spa visit and supporting spa operations according to Halekulani standards. The role requires knowledge of salon industry trends, Halekulani Salon and Spa facilities, services and products, the hotel property, events, and surrounding areas, as well as a commitment to exceeding guest expectations.

The technician provides professional nail and salon services in accordance with guest requests, salon protocols, accepted industry practices, and Halekulani service and technical standards. Services must be delivered skillfully, graciously, on schedule, and within the time established for each appointment. The technician follows health, safety, hotel, and spa procedures; uses products appropriately; maintains a clean and safe workspace; and cooperates with spa colleagues and other hotel departments. The position is on-call and reports to the Director of Spa & Wellness.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate.
• At least 350 hours of beauty training, along with the required apprenticeship hours in the State of Hawaii.
• Active Hawaii State license for beauty services and/or cosmetology.
• Ability to provide exceptional nail care and design.
• Ability to anticipate guest needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge guests.
• Knowledge of hotel events, outlets, and hours of operation.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
• Ability to learn and perform specific Salon services offered at the Spa when training is provided.
• Time-management skills.
• Ability to lift and carry loads up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to stand or walk for up to eight hours per shift.
• Ability to maintain a stationary position for up to 120 minutes during each treatment.
• Ability to perform various movements throughout the work areas.

Responsibilities

• Follow Halekulani health and safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe and secure work environment.
• Provide professional nail and salon services consistent with Halekulani service standards and accepted industry practices.
• Deliver consistent, quality service throughout shifts of up to eight hours.
• Provide the nail services offered at the Salon.
• Follow all hotel and spa policies and procedures and uphold Halekulani service and technical standards.
• Learn and perform new beauty or salon services offered at the Spa when training is provided.
• Perform services according to guest requests and salon protocol, with skill, proficiency, and a gracious manner.
• Begin services at scheduled appointment times and complete them within the established service time frame.
• Use products properly while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
• Read and follow schedule postings for shifts, room assignments, and SpaSoft reservations.
• Cooperate with Spa team members and colleagues in other hotel departments.
• Maintain the Halekulani Groom Standard in appearance throughout the shift.
• Attend mandatory Salon meetings.
• Maintain positive relations with Halekulani and Halepuna departments.
