Spa - Nail Technician (On-Call)
About The Position
The Nail Technician is an integral member of the spa team and continuously looks for ways to improve each guest’s experience. The role provides exceptional service from guest arrival through spa services and supports spa operations in accordance with Halekulani standards. The technician is expected to know salon industry trends, Halekulani Salon and Spa facilities, services and products, hotel property, events, and surrounding areas, and to strive to exceed guest expectations. The technician provides professional nail and salon services according to guest requests, salon protocols, accepted industry practices, and Halekulani service and technical standards. Services must begin at their scheduled appointment times and be completed within the established time frames. The technician maintains a clean and safe work environment, uses products appropriately, follows schedules and reservations, cooperates with colleagues across spa and hotel departments, maintains the Halekulani Groom Standard, and attends mandatory salon meetings. The position reports to the Director of Spa & Wellness.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate.
- At least 350 hours of beauty training, along with the required number of apprenticeship hours in the State of Hawaii.
- Active Hawaii State license for beauty services and/or cosmetology.
- Ability to provide exceptional nail care and design.
- Ability to anticipate guest needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests.
- Knowledge of hotel events, outlets, and hours of operation.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
- Ability to learn and perform specific salon services offered at the spa when training is provided.
- Time-management skills.
Responsibilities
- Follow Halekulani health and safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe and secure work environment.
- Provide professional nail and salon services consistent with Halekulani service standards and accepted industry practices.
- Deliver consistent, high-quality guest service throughout shifts of up to eight hours.
- Perform all nail services offered by the salon and services requested by guests, following salon protocols with skill, proficiency, and a gracious manner.
- Learn and perform new beauty or salon services offered at the spa when training is provided.
- Begin services at scheduled appointment times and complete them within the established service time frames.
- Use products properly while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Follow hotel and spa policies and procedures and uphold Halekulani service and technical standards.
- Read and follow schedule postings for shifts, room assignments, and SpaSoft reservations.
- Cooperate with spa colleagues and team members in other hotel departments.
- Maintain the Halekulani Groom Standard throughout the shift.
- Attend all mandatory salon meetings.
- Maintain positive relations with all Halekulani and Halepuna departments.
