About The Position

GTS Transportation is seeking an experienced, self-motivated Mobile Trailer Mechanic to inspect, maintain, and repair trailers at customer and company account locations. This field-based role involves traveling between locations and working independently to keep equipment safe and road-ready. The position is offered as a 1099 independent contractor role, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM and optional Saturday hours from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Pay is $30–$35 per hour, based on experience.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of trailer repair experience.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Reliable, responsible, and detail-oriented.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to lift equipment and work in various weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

• CDL license.
• Prior experience issuing Annual FHWA/DOT Inspections.
• Background in a mobile or field-service mechanic role.

Responsibilities

• Travel between customer and company account locations to service trailers on-site.
• Perform trailer inspections and assess overall equipment condition.
• Complete preventive maintenance services on-site.
• Diagnose and perform minor trailer repairs in the field.
• Perform and issue Annual FHWA/DOT Inspections.
• Identify safety and maintenance issues and recommend additional repairs when necessary.
• Complete inspection reports and service documentation accurately.
