About The Position

Cox Fleet’s FleeTec Academy is a paid educational program for people seeking to start a career as a Diesel Technician. Trainees complete a 10-week program that includes classroom instruction at the Academy Campus, with travel expenses, hotel accommodation, a meal stipend, and pay provided. The program teaches diesel engine fundamentals and truck repair, and includes a set of hand tools and a toolbox. After classroom training, trainees are paired with a Lead Technician in their market for hands-on training and offered a full-time Mobile Diesel Mechanic job. Further classroom study takes place periodically as part of the multi-year development program. Successful completion of the program leads to qualification as a Diesel Technician. Mobile Technicians use an assigned service vehicle to perform preventative maintenance and general repairs at customer locations, helping fleets keep their vehicles running efficiently. The role is not routinely focused on emergency roadside repairs. The posting describes pay progression during training: $16 per hour or state minimum wage, whichever is greater, plus a $250 weekly stipend during the initial phase; $19 per hour for the next six weeks; and a second four-week classroom phase in Indianapolis at $19 per hour plus a $250 weekly stipend. Pay is listed as $21 per hour upon graduation. The introductory compensation section separately lists an anticipated hourly base pay range of $13.70–$20.53, potentially with additional commission or incentive compensation. The position requires travel, and the training requires dedication to 10 weeks away from home. Candidates must be at least 21 to drive a company truck. The employer conducts background checks, driving record checks, pre-employment drug testing, and a physical.
