Mixed Signal Design Validation Engineer

NVIDIA•Santa Clara, CA
•$168,000 - $310,500

About The Position

As a member of NVIDIA’s Mixed Signal Design Validation team, the engineer will bring up and characterize high-speed mixed-signal circuits and perform system validation of electro-optical transceivers. The role involves owning the development and implementation of tests, debugging unexpected issues, and producing meaningful analysis from laboratory data for high-speed interfaces and modules. The engineer will work with cross-functional teams to improve circuit and system performance and help train new engineers in validation practices.

Requirements

  • A BS degree or equivalent experience, with 8 or more years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to time-sensitive, critical issues.
  • Experience with silicon bring-up, debugging, and laboratory instrumentation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment involving multiple chip and system bring-ups.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of fundamental analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits.
  • Ability to write scripts for validation, debugging, data analysis, and automation.
  • Proficiency in Python, Git, MATLAB, and JMP.

Nice To Haves

  • Comprehensive understanding of multi-protocol SerDes architecture.
  • In-depth understanding of measurement theory and test instruments.
  • Knowledge of optical transceiver performance.

Responsibilities

  • Build validation test suites for high-speed I/Os and analog circuits.
  • Characterize analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit blocks across process, voltage, and temperature variations, and correlate results with simulations.
  • Lead debugging of technically challenging issues by developing solutions to sophisticated problems.
  • Provide analog circuit designers with feedback on silicon performance, design quality, and margins.
  • Build and run test scripts to optimize overall system performance.
  • Lead focused discussions with internal and external cross-functional teams to optimize mixed-signal circuit performance.
  • Develop tools and scripts to support electrical characterization and chip bring-up.
  • Train new engineers in validation practices.
