About The Position

The Mill Operator Trainee supports safe production at Freeport-McMoRan’s Bagdad operations in Arizona. The role involves maintaining and operating concentrator equipment, inspecting equipment and operational areas, assisting with maintenance, completing housekeeping, and learning basic metallurgical milling principles. The position may require a non-standard schedule, including shift work, at a 24/7, 365-day operation.

Requirements

• At least three months of experience in mining or manufacturing, industrial operations, commercial construction, commercial landscaping, or commercial agriculture.
• Complete the required academic and practical competencies, including Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where applicable, and demonstrate the required aptitude.
• Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills and pass a written assessment where required; the assessment may cover skills, abilities, academic knowledge, and safety.
• Ability to communicate in English regarding job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
• Knowledge of milling, crushing, and conveying equipment, including operating parameters, limits, and functionality.
• Pass any required medical exam, training, and/or testing.
• Pass mandatory pre-employment drug testing and ongoing drug and alcohol testing, as allowed by applicable laws.

Responsibilities

• Make guided decisions to support the primary objective of safe production.
• Maintain and operate concentrator equipment.
• Perform detailed inspections of operating equipment and operational areas.
• Assist with maintenance activities.
• Complete area housekeeping duties.
• Learn and understand basic metallurgical milling principles.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
