About The Position

2020 Companies, in partnership with Meta, is hiring a Device Provisioning Manager! This role is the technical owner of a fleet of AI glasses and VR headsets used by a nationwide field team for product demonstrations in retail environments. The Provisioning Manager is responsible for building, configuring, and validating every device that reaches a field representative. Primarily a deep technical role, the day-to-day involves imaging and enrolling devices, troubleshooting, and improving the build process. Several times a year, during large-scale hardware deployments or fleet refreshes, the role shifts to planning and managing a temporary build line crew to ensure deployments are completed on schedule. The ideal candidate is effective in both technical and deployment management modes and enjoys owning a technical system, focusing on details at volume, and working with new consumer hardware.

Requirements

  • Must live in the Dallas–Fort Worth area and be able to work onsite at the Fort Worth, TX warehouse.
  • 3+ years in device provisioning, IT deployment, endpoint engineering, or a closely related hands-on technical role.
  • Deep, current, hands-on technical fluency; ability to learn new hardware and software quickly.
  • Working knowledge of AI-enabled devices and VR/XR hardware (e.g., smart glasses, standalone VR headsets, companion apps, firmware, management consoles).
  • Experience with mobile device management or endpoint management platforms (e.g., Microsoft Intune, Jamf, ArborXR, ManageXR, or comparable), including enrollment, profiles, and remote wipe.
  • Exceptional organization and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to run a project: build a plan, hold a schedule, direct others' work, and report status clearly to leadership.
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision and leading a crew when needed.
  • Able to work effectively as a peer, coordinating daily with an Inventory Manager.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including with non-technical staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience supporting a distributed or remote field team.
  • Scripting or automation ability (PowerShell, Python, ADB, or similar) applied to device setup.
  • Familiarity with retail or in-store demonstration environments.
  • Experience hiring, onboarding, or supervising temporary or contract technical staff.
  • Hardware repair experience with consumer electronics or wearables.
  • Project management coursework or certification (CAPM, PMP, or equivalent practical experience).

Responsibilities

  • Configure and image devices to the standard build, including OS/firmware updates, MDM enrollment, network/Wi-Fi profiles, demo/kiosk mode, account provisioning, app installation, and security settings.
  • Define and maintain the standard build specification for all supported devices, keeping it current with hardware and software changes.
  • Functionally test every unit before release, checking display, optics, tracking, audio, battery health, controller pairing, and demo content playback.
  • Update the asset system with build and test status for devices moving through provisioning.
  • Diagnose device issues escalated from the field and provide remote technical support to field representatives.
  • Determine the disposition of failed devices (repairable in-house or end-of-life) and document technical findings.
  • Perform in-house repairs and component swaps, technically validating all repaired devices before redeployment.
  • Securely wipe and re-provision returned devices, confirming data removal before redeployment or retirement.
  • Maintain provisioning runbooks, build checklists, and troubleshooting documentation.
  • Plan the technical aspects of bulk deployments, including build specifications, per-unit build time, staging layout, tooling, network capacity, throughput targets, and milestones.
  • Onboard, train, and direct temporary technicians on the build line, assigning work, setting daily targets, and quality-checking output.
  • Design the build and test workflow for high-volume, error-free device processing.
  • Track build progress against plan daily, identify technical risks early, and report status and completion dates to leadership.
  • Coordinate with the Inventory Manager to ensure timely hardware arrival and efficient flow of finished units.
  • Conduct technical post-deployment reviews, analyzing defect rates, build times, and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Evaluate new devices, firmware releases, and management tooling for potential adoption.
  • Report on fleet technical health, including failure trends, firmware compliance, enrollment status, and provisioning turnaround times.
  • Advise the Inventory Manager on hardware and spare-part needs based on observed failure rates.
  • Manage the technical relationship with device vendors and their support channels.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to automate, script, or streamline provisioning steps.
