The Mental Health Therapist promotes functional behavioral patterns by helping patients develop healthy coping mechanisms, establish advantageous behaviors, and maintain rational thought processes. The therapist works as part of a treatment team using individual and group approaches, with a focus on patients’ physical and psychological stability. The role assists with patient assessment and treatment planning; provides therapeutic services and crisis counseling; maintains documentation in accordance with facility and state regulations; and participates in required meetings, educational activities, and team-building. Crisis intervention may involve physical control when a patient cannot control their behavior.
