Requirements

  • 6 months prior refractory and/or Melt Shop experience
  • Attention to Detail: Thorough in accomplishing tasks, no matter how small they may be, and taking care to make sure that expectations are met.
  • Communication Skills: Strong ability to express ideas and opinions both verbally and written in order to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Teamwork: A proven history of working well with other employees with the ability to contribute effectively in a team environment.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to influence others in a positive direction at all times to achieve success in accomplishing individual and team goals and objectives.
  • Mechanical Knowledge: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and/or maintenance.
  • Dependability / Accountability: Being reliable, responsible, and committed to fulfilling obligations. Displays responsibility with work habits and has ability to hold others accountable for desired results.
  • Must work in extreme heat, rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure containment of liquid steel through proper inspection and handling practices of every ladle processed.
  • Ensure that all Ladle components are operational prior to releasing for use.
  • Coordinate and communicate all ladle information between the EAF, LMF and Caster.
  • Make timely and accurate decisions under pressure while following prescribed practices for ladle work.
  • Accurately record the ladle tracking data.
  • Assist the LMF Operator as required.
  • Prepare accurate alloy setups.
  • Clean Ladle Car tracks.
  • Perform duties at all Ladle Walls effectively.
  • Assist at Caster and Torches as required.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in the area of the Ladle Wall.
