About The Position

The Part-Time Medication Technician is responsible for safely and accurately administering medications to residents in accordance with state regulations, community policies, and physician orders. The role supports residents’ health and well-being by ensuring medications are administered correctly and monitoring residents for changes in condition. The Med Tech also assists with daily care tasks and fosters a compassionate, respectful living environment.

Requirements

• Active Medication Technician License on the Maryland Board of Nursing.
• 6 months of experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, administer, and document medications in compliance with physician orders and community policy.
• Verify the correct medication, dosage, resident, time, and route before administration.
• Maintain accurate and complete medication administration records (MARs).
• Promptly report and document medication errors, side effects, or refusals.
• Refill and reorder medications as needed in coordination with the pharmacy and nursing staff.
• Observe residents for changes in physical, mental, or emotional condition and report them to the supervising nurse or manager.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as grooming, dressing, or ambulation, when needed.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, promoting dignity and positive engagement.
