About The Position
The Medical Technologist performs patient analytic laboratory testing, quality control, data analysis, results reporting, instrument maintenance, and technical problem resolution. The role calls for a service-committed, detail-oriented individual who can perform complex data analysis, exercise sound independent judgment, and demonstrate critical thinking skills. The position is on call, with variable shifts that may fall Sunday through Saturday on nights and have variable shift lengths.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or Sciences.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist, MLS (ASCP), MT (ASCP), or AMT or MT (AAB).
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in Medical Technology.
- Specialist certification in a discipline, such as Specialist Hematology (SH) (ASCP), Microbiology (SM) (ASCP), Specialist Blood Banking (SBB) (ASCP), or Technician Chemistry (SC) (ASCP).
Responsibilities
- Receive specimens and establish and maintain positive specimen identification.
- Determine specimen suitability.
- Acquire and prepare reagents as needed.
- Perform instrument maintenance and calibration.
