About The Position
The Medical Technologist performs patient analytic laboratory testing, quality control, data analysis, results reporting, instrument maintenance, and technical problem resolution. The role requires a service-committed, detail-oriented individual who can perform complex data analysis, exercise sound independent judgment, and demonstrate critical thinking skills. This is an on-call position with variable shifts and variable shift lengths, including Sunday-through-Saturday night shifts, at MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or Sciences.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist, MLS (ASCP), MT (ASCP), AMT, or MT (AAB).
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in Medical Technology.
- Specialist certification in a discipline, such as Specialist Hematology (SH) (ASCP), Microbiology (SM) (ASCP), Specialist Blood Banking (SBB) (ASCP), or Tech Chemistry (SC) (ASCP).
Responsibilities
- Receive specimens and establish and maintain positive identification of specimens.
- Determine the suitability of specimens.
- Acquire and prepare reagents as needed.
- Perform instrument maintenance and calibration.
- Perform patient analytic laboratory testing, quality control, data analysis, and results reporting.
- Resolve technical problems.
