About The Position
Virginia Mason Franciscan Health’s National Nurse Resident role provides a hands-on, supportive experience intended to help new nurses grow and build confidence through mentorship, meaningful feedback, and team support. The nurse collaborates with physicians and a multidisciplinary team to provide individualized patient care, administer treatments, monitor vital signs, and educate patients and families. The role includes active participation in a comprehensive, evidence-based Nurse Residency Program to support professional growth and development. Nurses are expected to apply the nursing process and clinical judgment, promote patient safety and quality improvement, collaborate across disciplines, take accountability for assignments and professional development, and continually strengthen clinical and professional skills in alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
Requirements
- Associate of Science in Nursing.
- 0–12 months of professional RN experience upon hire.
- Registered Nurse license in Washington upon hire.
- Basic Life Support (CPR) certification upon hire.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing upon hire.
Responsibilities
- Use the nursing process, critical thinking, and clinical skills—including assessment, planning, and treatment—to deliver holistic, high-quality patient care.
- Identify and mitigate healthcare risks and contribute to improved clinical outcomes.
- Communicate and collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary team to provide efficient, cohesive, patient-centered care.
- Administer treatments and track patients’ vital signs.
- Educate patients and their families.
- Take ownership of assignments, clinical decisions, and professional development while adhering to professional ethics and regulations.
- Coordinate care and be accountable for delegated tasks.
- Seek feedback and continuously develop clinical and professional skills.
- Align daily practice and interactions with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
- Participate in the evidence-based Nurse Residency Program.
