About The Position

The Medical Staff Coordinator works in the Medical Staff Services department at Harlingen Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. This full-time role has day shifts of eight hours. The coordinator manages provider credentialing and related records, ensures compliance with applicable standards and regulations, and collaborates with leadership and clinical teams to support provider onboarding and scheduling. The coordinator also serves as a contact for providers and staff with credentialing questions and issues.

Requirements

At least 3 years of technical or administrative experience.
Strong computer, communication, and writing skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree or equivalent education/experience.
Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) certification.
Medical Staff Services Department and/or acute care hospital experience.
Knowledge of medical terminology and medical staff services.

Responsibilities

Coordinate provider credentialing, including initial applications, reappointments, proctoring, and competency verification using MD Staff or other credentialing software.
Ensure ongoing compliance with accreditation standards, state and federal regulations, and organizational policies.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date credentialing records in designated credentialing and scheduling systems.
Partner with leadership and clinical teams to support provider onboarding and timely credentialing and scheduling.
Answer credentialing questions from providers and staff and help resolve issues efficiently.
