About The Position

The Medical Staff Coordinator obtains necessary information to complete appointment and reappointment processes, maintains accurate files credentialing with regard to verification documentation, demographics, committee attendance, National Practitioner Data Bank, malpractice insurance and state medical licensure/certification. In addition, the position supports medical staff committees, as required and maintains medical staff bylaws, rules/regs and policies. The role is responsible for credentialing, medical executive meetings, and general medical staff meetings, including agenda setting, producing minutes, and sending meeting reminders. It also involves notifying necessary areas of new physicians, changes in privileges, reappointments, resignations, and leaves of absence, and entering new/updated data into credentialing software. The position supports departmental meetings and handles the reappointment process, which includes queries for approximately 30 physicians quarterly, involving preparing applications, mailing, updating, and following up on missing documents. Other duties include verification of licensure (NJ, CDS, DEA), NPDB queries, claim history verification, education verification, obtaining/reviewing peer references and hospital affiliations, initial application data entry for new physicians, assisting with Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE), filing, faxing, copying, and managing the monthly on-call schedule. The role also supports the maintenance and updating of information in the physician database, including licenses, credentialing, and contact information.

Requirements

  • Consistently participates analysis of Performance Improvement data as well as overseeing follow up of corrective action plans submitted by managers.
  • Knowledgeable of and adheres to all hospital policies and procedures including but not limited to: Attendance Management: Reports to work on time; is flexible when staffing needs warrant change; requests time off in a timely manner; consistently utilizes time clocks to document in and out shifts.
