Oak Street Health’s Clinical Informatics Specialists (CIS), also known as Medical Scribes, support primary care providers by serving as clinical documentation assistants. Each Scribe is paired with one provider and joins them in the exam room, team huddles, and post-visit summaries to help ensure accurate, specific, and timely documentation. Scribes receive extensive training in Oak Street Health’s value-based care model, ICD-10 and CPT coding, electronic medical records, and population health. Their work helps the interdisciplinary team identify and close care gaps, support preventive measures for chronic conditions, and provide positive patient experiences. The role is designed for individuals seeking substantial clinical exposure, particularly those pursuing pre-medical or healthcare administration paths. The posting describes an expected commitment of 1–2 years, with at least one year required. It is a paid, full-time position intended to provide experience with chronic disease management and patient-care workflows before pursuing MD, PA, nursing, or other professional healthcare programs. This is an administrative documentation role, not a hands-on patient-care position. The position is based in person at the clinic and offers predictable hours and break times. The role offers a $1,500 sign-on bonus.
