About The Position

Oak Street Health’s Clinical Informatics Specialist (CIS), or Medical Scribe, supports primary care providers by documenting patient care so providers can focus on delivering care. Scribes help prepare for the day’s visits, observe and document encounters in the exam room, and support follow-up steps after visits. They document encounters in real time, develop expertise in value-based care and chronic-condition documentation, and use that knowledge to help providers identify and close care gaps. The position includes on-the-job training in clinical workflows, value-based medicine, preventive care, documentation, population health data, and team-based care. The role is intended for candidates able to commit at least one year, with two or more years preferred. It offers paid clinical-setting experience and may be suitable for people pursuing medical, health informatics, public health, healthcare administration, medical coding, or related careers.
