About The Position
The Medical Scheduler assists staff and physicians by scheduling patients for appropriate follow-up appointments and necessary tests and procedures. The Scheduler is a member of the healthcare team, with responsibilities commensurate with educational preparation and demonstrated competencies. The role includes direct interaction with patients of all ages. The position is based at ULP - Shea Orthopedics, 201 Abraham Flexner Way, Suite 100, Louisville, Kentucky. The listed schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED/equivalent.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
Nice To Haves
- Two years of scheduling experience in a multi-specialty clinic.
Responsibilities
- Schedule follow-up and return office visits for patients.
- Obtain pre-certification and pre-authorizations as needed.
- Schedule medical tests and procedures for patients.
- Explain procedure instructions to patients so they understand what is expected.
- Call patients to schedule procedures and provide instructions, with a follow-up letter containing instructions.
- Use Allscripts, Centricity Business, and online paging systems; retrieve information from other hospital systems.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Exhibit friendly and helpful behavior.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
- Comply with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
