About The Position

The Medical Scheduler assists staff and physicians by scheduling patients for appropriate follow-up appointments and necessary tests and procedures. The Scheduler works as a member of the healthcare team, with responsibilities aligned with their educational preparation and demonstrated competencies. The role involves direct interaction with patients of all ages. The position is based at KMG Ortho Assoc - ULP - CMG, 101 Stonecrest Dr, Suite 2, Shelbyville, KY 40065, and is scheduled for first shift, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED/equivalent.
Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA privacy and security requirements.

Nice To Haves

Two years of scheduling experience in a multi-specialty clinic.

Responsibilities

Schedule patients’ follow-up and return visits to the office.
Obtain required pre-certifications and pre-authorizations.
Schedule patients’ medical tests and procedures.
Explain procedure instructions to patients to ensure they understand what is expected.
Call patients to schedule procedures and provide instructions by phone, followed by a letter with instructions.
Use Allscripts, Centricity Business, and online paging systems.
Retrieve information from other hospital systems.
Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
Exhibit friendly and helpful behavior.
Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
Comply with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality.
Perform other duties as assigned.
