About The Position

The Medical Scheduler assists staff and physicians by scheduling patients for appropriate follow-up appointments and necessary tests and procedures. As a member of the healthcare team, the Scheduler performs responsibilities consistent with their educational preparation and demonstrated competencies. The role involves direct interaction with patients of all ages. The position is based at South Hospital - ULP - AMG in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, and works a first shift schedule of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED/equivalent.
Comply with HIPAA privacy and security requirements and maintain confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

Two years of scheduling experience in a multi-specialty clinic.

Responsibilities

Schedule follow-up and return visits for patients.
Obtain pre-certifications and pre-authorizations as needed.
Schedule medical tests and procedures for patients.
Explain procedure instructions to patients so they understand what is expected.
Call patients to schedule procedures and provide instructions by phone, with a follow-up letter containing instructions.
Use Allscripts, Centricity Business, online paging systems, and other hospital systems to retrieve information.
Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
Exhibit friendly and helpful behavior.
Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
Comply with HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
