About The Position

The Medical Records Specialist supports Therapy & Beyond’s financial health, Release of Information (ROI) compliance, and operational integrity. The role works with healthcare reimbursement processes, electronic health record (EHR) systems, audit readiness, and HIPAA and data privacy requirements. It serves as a bridge between clinics, insurance payers, and third-party requestors, supporting health information exchange and ensuring patient care is accurately reflected in billing. The position is based in Flower Mound, Texas, and works closely with multiple departments to maintain strong communication among stakeholders.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Deep understanding of medical billing and coding and EMR systems.
• Proficiency in office technology and multi-line phone management.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective team and patient communication.

Nice To Haves

• A degree in progress or completed.
• Two years of medical billing or revenue cycle management (RCM) experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end Release of Information (ROI) processing, including incoming and outgoing requests through EHR and health information exchange (HIE) platforms, and ensure timely, compliant release of information to insurance companies, patients, legal entities, and authorized third parties.
• Maintain audit readiness and compliance with HIPAA rules, state regulations, and internal privacy policies when handling, releasing, auditing, and archiving protected health information (PHI).
• Track remittances and follow up with insurance payers to resolve outstanding issues and support timely reimbursement.
• Coordinate with internal teams on patient insurance updates, claim hold protocols, and claim-related issue resolution.
• Prioritize and manage assigned revenue cycle responsibilities while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
• Assist with claim submission, adjudication, payment posting, and patient account reconciliation as needed.
• Audit claims for appropriate modifiers and accurate billing data before transmission.
