About The Position

Pediatric Associates is seeking a Medical Receptionist with a passion for pediatric care. This role is crucial for serving patients and visitors by greeting them in a friendly and welcoming manner, completing and updating required information, collecting payments, and providing other requested information. The position also involves discharging patients after their appointments, providing them with pertinent information, and scheduling follow-up appointments. The Pediatric Associates Family of Companies is a growing team of Pediatricians and Pediatric Care Teammates who are excited to be part of the first nationwide Pediatric Primary Care Medical Home. Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish/English - must be fluent in both.
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in a medical office setting preferred.
  • A driver’s license must be active and valid upon hire and for the duration of the employment period.
  • Ability to learn & practice Pediatric Associate procedures, policies, and protocols.
  • Proficient grammar, spelling, and verbal skills to communicate with patients, providers, and staff in written documents.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, follow oral and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of computer and medical terminology desired.
  • Interact effectively, support staff & maintain a professional working relationship.
  • Provide excellent customer service; greet & receive patients/ visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Maintain professional and excellent phone skills & etiquette, must be able to speak clearly and concisely.
  • Use good judgment & maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Must be able to file alpha and numerically.
  • Experience in using a computer system, scanner, printer, fax etc.

Responsibilities

  • Check-in patients upon arrival, which includes updating demographics, insurance information, PCP, pharmacy, collecting co-pays and patient balances, and providing consents for signature as well as appropriate health questionnaires.
  • Check out patients, collect additional balances, provide visit summaries, specialist referral information, patient portal information, completed forms, and follow-up appointments.
  • Verify patient insurance through Batch Eligibility or on demand.
  • Contact patients whose insurance is not active, or PCP is not appropriate.
  • Post-patient charges and payments.
  • Complete charge and payment reconciliation.
  • Scan and upload documents through the Document Management system.
  • Sort and deliver mail and PA documents received by courier.
  • Maintain a clean work area and patient waiting area.
  • Participate in staff and educational meetings.
