About The Position

Refocus is seeking a Medical Receptionist to serve as the welcoming first point of contact for patients at its busy, multi-specialty ophthalmology practice. This in-person role supports an efficient, positive patient experience by managing reception, appointments, communications, records, and payments. The position requires travel and floating between practices in Meriden and Bloomfield, Connecticut, and may include evening and weekend rotations depending on the practice.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Proven experience in a medical administrative role.
Knowledge of medical terminology and medical office procedures.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Proficiency in data entry and computer skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Reliability, a positive attitude, and strong teamwork skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume practice.
Ability to travel to multiple locations.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in ophthalmology.
Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

Responsibilities

Greet patients and manage check-ins and check-outs.
Answer patient questions with clarity and compassion.
Schedule appointments and coordinate provider schedules.
Answer calls, manage messages, verify patient information, and maintain accurate records.
Collect co-pays and verify insurance eligibility.
Ensure accurate daily financial reporting.
Address patient concerns and escalate issues as needed.
Collaborate with providers, clinical and administrative staff, and external partners.
Travel and float between practices in Meriden and Bloomfield, Connecticut.
