About The Position

The Medical Patient Collector is responsible for patient collections, maintaining and monitoring assigned inventory, following appropriate escalation and dispute processes, and reconciling payments. The role involves working with multiple billing systems, explaining patient balances and payment options, documenting collection activity, and meeting established accuracy, quality, and performance standards.

Requirements

Intermediate or advanced skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

Fluency in Spanish.
Knowledge of medical or dental billing.

Responsibilities

Navigate various billing systems to gather billing and collection information and perform patient collections.
Retain and apply client requirements, policies, and procedures.
Read and interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOB) documents.
Enter notes into appropriate databases to support future collection efforts and interdepartmental communications.
Work inbound and outbound call queues and emails, explaining balances and payment options and processes to patients.
Maintain accuracy, quality control, and performance standards to consistently meet established goals.
Communicate issues or concerns to the team or lead.
Adapt to schedule changes.
Answer questions and escalate issues when necessary.
Maintain professional control of calls and demonstrate good phone etiquette.
Confidently request payment to support collections.
Maintain and monitor assigned inventory, follow escalation and dispute processes, and reconcile payments taken.
Perform other duties as assigned.
