As a Collector, you help credit unions resolve delinquent loans while complying with applicable laws, policies, and procedures. The role focuses on protecting member relationships, responsibly recovering balances, and maintaining compliant records of account activity. You make professional inbound and outbound contacts, negotiate payment arrangements using sound judgment, and keep accurate, timely notes and follow-ups. You may perform skip-tracing and support repossession and bankruptcy activity while following established correspondence standards. Within 12 months, you will work toward Certified Collectors status and complete ongoing recertification as required. The workday involves reviewing and prioritizing an account queue, making calls, documenting activity, and managing scheduled follow-ups. You use established procedures and templates, adapt to new information or time-sensitive changes, and coordinate with a manager or other departments as needed to move work forward and close open items.
