About The Position

Oasis Behavioral Health is seeking a full-time Medical Insurance Collector responsible for obtaining accurate, timely, and detailed information concerning claims and patient accounts. The role involves working outstanding insurance claims, correcting and resubmitting claims, reviewing payments and account adjustments, and taking appropriate steps to support reimbursement. The collector manages daily account productivity, monitors patient account balances and financial classes, reports weekly activity to the BOD, participates in accounts receivable meetings, and assists financial counselors as needed. Other functions and tasks may be assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Three or more years of prior admissions and/or collections experience in a hospital setting.

Psychiatric experience.

Responsibilities

Call third-party payers to check the status of outstanding claims.
Review claim issues, make corrections as needed, and rebill claims.
Use the claims clearinghouse to review and correct claims, and resubmit them electronically when available.
Review explanations of benefits to determine whether claims were processed and paid correctly.
Complete account adjustment forms and attach supporting documentation when adjustments are needed.
Manage daily productivity using the patient accounting system and productivity reports, maintaining an average of at least 30–40 accounts worked per day.
Prorate patient accounts and monitor whether the balance due is assigned to the correct financial class.
Report a weekly overview to the BOD and participate in accounts receivable meetings.
Gather and interpret system data, determine appropriate actions, and initiate time-sensitive and strategic steps to obtain payment.
Assist financial counselors as needed.
Alert financial counselors and the Business Office Director to benefit eligibility matters that may affect reimbursement.
Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
