Medical Laboratory Scientist I-Generalist
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I-Generalist in Arlington, Texas. The role is scheduled Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, with rotational weekends. The position performs laboratory testing and related specimen handling, result review and release, recordkeeping, and adherence to applicable laboratory, privacy, occupational safety, and testing-quality procedures. The pay range starts at $29.50 per hour. Employees may be eligible for a shift differential of 10% for some or all second-shift hours and 15% for some or all third-shift hours. Annual performance bonus compensation may also be available. Salary offers depend on factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications, market conditions, and organizational factors.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology preferred; alternatively, a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or result reporting, correct them, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
