Medical Laboratory Scientist I
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I in Tampa, Florida. The role performs laboratory testing and supports accurate, reliable reporting of patient test results while following laboratory procedures and applicable regulatory and safety guidelines. The position is scheduled Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Pay starts at $30.00 per hour; eligible external candidates may receive a $10,000 sign-on bonus, and relocation assistance will be considered. Salary offers depend on factors including skills, training, experience, education, certifications, market conditions, and organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.
Requirements
- A BS in Medical Technology; or a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology; or an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology; or qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- Quest lists one year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing as preferred.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, result reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify issues that may adversely affect test performance or reporting, correct them, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
