Medical Laboratory Scientist I- Generalist
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for a hospital-based position at Ocean in Brick, New Jersey. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with rotational weekend work. The role involves performing laboratory testing and related specimen, result-reporting, and recordkeeping activities. The stated pay range is $27.95 to $46.12 per hour. Salary offers consider factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications; market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.
Requirements
- A BS in Medical Technology is preferred; alternatively, a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.
- The posting lists ASCP certification and related credentials or titles: MLS, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Lab Scientist, Med Tech, Medical Technologist, CLS, and Clinical Lab Scientist.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting, correct encountered problems, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
