About The Position

The Medical Lab Technician performs clinical testing of laboratory specimens to provide accurate and reliable data for clinical assessment of patients. The technician adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and carries out defined services and related duties in accordance with the organization's Mission, Vision, and Values. This is a part-time PRN role on the evening shift, with 8-hour shifts.

Requirements

• Associate degree from a Medical Laboratory Technician program.
• Must be ASCP-eligible and pass the certification exam within 6 months of hire, or be certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP.
• Mandatory Reporter.
• Intermediate language skills and intermediate math skills; high reasoning ability.
• Ability to use a personal computer and database software.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and stay highly organized.
• Ability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks and work in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Obtain proper specimens for testing.
• Perform clinical testing of laboratory specimens and review data for clinical correlation.
• Perform quality control testing on analyzers and analytes and interpret results.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and assays.
• Adhere to safety, infection control, and colleague health policies and procedures.
