About The Position

Medical Laboratory Technicians provide information for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease by conducting medical laboratory tests, procedures, and analyses with limited supervision. The work includes preparing samples for examination, using automated equipment and specialized instrumentation, performing multiple complicated tests simultaneously, and accurately interpreting results in a timely manner so clinicians can use the data when making treatment decisions.

This is an entry-level position. The technician completes training in at least two rotations within the first six months of employment, as required by the hospital. The position is authorized for 16.00 hours bi-weekly.

Requirements

• Associate degree in chemical science, biological science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
• Must be registry eligible.
• Language, math, and reasoning skills sufficient to analyze and interpret information and reach valid conclusions during data collection and mechanical or scientific procedures.
• Good communication skills with the public and other hospital staff.
• Desired attitude and knowledge for other duties as assigned.

Nice To Haves

• National Registry for Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP or equivalent) preferred.

Responsibilities
