About The Position

The Medical Laboratory Assistant provides non-technical and minimal technical support to professional laboratory staff. The role performs specimen collection, including phlebotomy services, for patients as requested by licensed providers. The position is regular full-time and located in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Osage preference applies.

Requirements

• Completion and certification from an accredited or recognized phlebotomy training program.
• One year of laboratory experience.
• Intermediate knowledge of basic laboratory equipment, such as centrifuges and timers.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and the Privacy Act.
• High attention to detail.
• Maintain a professional attitude and appearance that positively represents the Nation.
• High level of personal integrity and ethics.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite programs.
• Good interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness and ability to learn new skills, including traveling to conferences and training sessions.
• BLS certification, or obtain it within 90 days of hire.
• Pass a criminal background check.
• Pass drug and alcohol testing.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; may be required to drive GSA or Nation vehicles.

• Collect patient specimens, including performing phlebotomy, as requested by licensed providers.
