Medical Director - Acacia Animal Hospital (Tucson, AZ)
About The Position
Acacia Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced veterinarian (DVM) to join their team as Medical Director. This role involves leading an AAHA-accredited, 2-doctor hospital with a team of hardworking and compassionate individuals, including 2 CVTs. The ideal candidate will build upon the hospital's current strengths, elevate services, and encourage new business ideas. Veterinarians who are confident in surgery, enjoy teaching, and have a performance/culture-driven mindset will be highly considered. The hospital sees small animals and exotics, occasionally works with a local wildlife rescue, and is equipped with digital radiographs, ultrasound, cold laser, warming surgical tables, IDEXX in-house laboratory, and performs services ranging from general wellness checks to orthopedic surgery, TPLO, and dental services. There are no after-hours on-call emergencies.
Requirements
- DVM/VMD degree from an accredited veterinary program, or currently enrolled and expected to graduate from an accredited veterinary program.
- Licensed or license-eligible in Arizona.
- Experienced doctor.
- Confident in surgery.

Responsibilities
- Lead an AAHA-accredited, 2-doctor hospital.
- Build upon the hospital’s current strengths.
- Elevate services and encourage new business ideas.
- Provide quality medicine in a collaborative environment.
- Mentor new graduates/early career doctors in the network.
- Perform 1-4 anesthetic procedures per day.
- Provide a wide range of services, including orthopedics.
- Treat exotic pets.
- Occasionally work with a local wildlife rescue.
- Participate in monthly DVM rounds with an internal medicine specialist.
- Engage in dentistry training with a board-certified dental surgeon.
